Composing on Tiritiri Matangi Island
As part of my Auckland Philharmonia Communities Composer residency I am writing a piece to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park. For inspiration, I was invited to explore Tiritiri Matangi Island for four days. I pretty much had the island to myself… apart from a DOC Ranger, some bird watchers and volunteers. You can take the ferry, but why do that when you can kayak? Here’s a video and photos from my time there.
